Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring night shifts, valid licensure, and multiple mandatory certifications.
Responsibilities
• Position is based in a hospital Labor and Delivery and Postpartum unit
• Patient population includes laboring, postpartum, and newborn patients
• 12-hour night shifts with some on-call requirements per unit guidelines
• Epic EMR system is used; prior experience is beneficial
• Floating may be required to other facilities or units within a 60-mile radius, potentially outside the primary skill set
• Responsibilities include comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for labor, delivery, and postpartum patients
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to promote patient safety, education, and advocacy
• Competency in IV insertion, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection is expected
• Delegation and precepting duties may be required in line with hospital policy
• Active participation in unit quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and continuous professional development is expected
• Flu vaccination is required during flu season (Nov 1 – March 31), with medical exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis
• Professional attire and compliance with hospital policies are expected
Requirements
• Active RN license (Standard or Compact); pending licenses not accepted
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• At least one year of recent Labor and Delivery experience preferred
• Certifications required: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or AWHONN certification
• All certifications must be active and from the American Heart Association
• No local candidates within a 60-mile radius allowed as travelers
