Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Alaska requiring an active AK license and ACLS/BLS certifications.
Details
• Work in a hospital-based Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with 17 beds
• Patient ratio is typically 4:1
• Unit provides care for post-surgical, cardiac, and neuro patients with telemetry monitoring
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Shift is 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Care team includes charge nurse, RNs, and CNAs
• Floating may be required to Ortho, Medical-Surgical, Medical-Oncology, MOU, Rehab, and CVSU units
Requirements
• Active and current Alaska RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years recent PCU or similar level experience
• Certifications required: BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC accepted)
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• IV, phlebotomy, NGT, trach care, CPAP, high flow, non-titratable drips (except heparin), and post-surgical care skills required
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include Q4 assessments and vital signs, ambulating post-surgical patients, NIH stroke care, CIWA protocols, lab draws, cardiac monitoring, and electrolyte replacement
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Ideal candidates are adaptable, efficient, and excel in teamwork
• Holiday coverage may be required as part of the rotation
• References are required per state-specific rules
