American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) position requiring a CA RN license and advanced critical care skills. Responsibilities
Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) of an acute care hospital 47-bed ICU with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 and 1:2 Patient population includes post-cardiac procedures (TAVR, PCI), open heart surgery, stroke, neuro, sepsis, DKA, and other critical cases RNs are required to titrate both common titratable and set-rate drips Equipment used includes ventilators, Cpap, BiPap, Nitric oxide, GE bedside and central tele monitors RNs are responsible for reading and posting telemetry strips every 4 hours Cerner EMR system is used 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required Float to telemetry units as needed On-call requirements are present Self-scheduling is allowed unless otherwise specified Hospital-provided navy blue scrubs are required Responsibilities include managing critically ill patients, titrating drips, and operating advanced ICU equipment ICU techs/CNAs present to support nursing staff 24/7 intensivist and respiratory therapist coverage in the unit Unit-specific orientation is provided after general hospital orientation with 1 shift in ICU and 1 in telemetry RNs must pass Relias Dysrhythmia and sterile technique testing if required for the region Candidates may not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the past year No holiday coverage required for this assignment Requirements
Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Minimum 2 years of recent SICU or ICU experience Certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, NIHSS Proven skills with vasoactive drips, lines, and ventilator management Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips Two professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the past 3 years Benefits
