Overview:
Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for Cornell 3- our MedSurg Unit! This is a full-time Day shift position (12 hour) in Charlottesville, VA. One of the best staffed Medical/Surgical units in the state!
Cornell 3 is a 24-bed medical-surgical unit focused on gastrointestinal care, addressing conditions like gallbladder diseases, appendicitis, bowel obstructions, and procedures such as colon resections and ostomy creation. The unit also cares for patients with sepsis, respiratory issues, and diabetes complications, maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 to 1:6 for personalized care. It is an ideal environment for both experienced nurses and new graduates seeking skill development. Cornell 3 promotes a collaborative atmosphere with a multidisciplinary team and supports professional growth, blending the resources of a major medical center with a community hospital's warmth, aiming to make a meaningful difference in patient lives.

The Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
Education
• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN (required) Or
• MSN (Preferred)
Certification/Licensure
• Registered nursing License (Required)
• BLS required within 90 days of hire
• Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.
Experience
• 18 Months of acute care RN experience(required)
• Previous healthcare experience (required)
• Post surgical area experience (preferred)
• Same Day surgery experience (preferred)
