Job specification Candidate requirements Job specification • Performs comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, surgery details, and vital signs. • Managing patient pain with medication and interventions for comfort • Maintains the patient's clear airway and proper oxygenation. May require support after general anaesthesia. • Monitors the patient's regaining consciousness from anaesthesia and observes for complications. • Informs the patient and family about post-operative care and answers questions. • Prepares patients for transfer or discharge and coordinates follow-up care. • Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team for comprehensive patient care and communicates changes. • Serves as a patient advocate and addresses concerns in the post-surgical unit. Candidate requirements • An up-to-date resume • An associate's degree in nursing is required. • A bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred. • A valid registered nurse license within the jurisdictional region is required. • A Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate from the American Heart Association is required at employment. • A valid American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) card or be able obtained within 6 months of being hired. • A valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required. • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, including potential complications and specific post-operative care needs. • Proficiency in practical communication skills is required.
