A Day in the Life
As a Weekend Registered Nurse, you will be a reassuring presence for families in need. Each weekend, you will visit patients, provide skilled hospice care, guide families through their concerns, and respond to urgent needs with calmness and assurance. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary hospice team to ensure that each patient's care plan is clear, updated, and personalized. Whether you are making home visits, responding to triage calls, or supporting a family in challenging times, your role as a Weekend RN will have profound significance.
Your Responsibilities
• Deliver compassionate hospice nursing care, education, and interventions.
• Manage all patient care needs during your shift, including assessment, planning, and documentation.
• Respond to medical or emotional crises with professionalism and warmth.
• Make home visits to provide direct hospice care.
• Conduct follow-up calls after triage for clarity and support.
• Adhere to Northern Illinois Hospice on-call protocols.
Work Schedule
Weekend Registered Nurse schedule: Every weekend, Saturday & Sunday, 8:00 AM – 8:30 PM. Three 12-hour shifts may be arranged for full-time status.
Qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license.
• At least 1 year of medical/surgical, oncology, or hospice experience (2 years RN preferred).
• CHPN certification preferred (or obtained within 2 years).
• CPR certification within three months.
• Must reside locally within a 30-minute on-call response time.
Compensation
Weekend Registered Nurse pay ranges from $37.00 to $52.00/hour, based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity. Comprehensive benefits include a 401(k) with company match (Roth & Traditional) and a total rewards package.
